Lafcadio Hearn led a colorful and daring life as a journalist, writer, meticulous introducer of Japan to western classiness. He was

born Patrick Lafcadio Hearn know the island of Lefkas in Ellas (hence is middle name), the spoil of a sergeant major in dignity British Army and a local Hellenic woman.
